Reddit is 31% of my traffic now — exactly how I post without getting banned

Eleven accounts, 19 months, zero permanent bans. 31% of total site traffic and the best-converting source I have, by a distance.

The rules I do not break

  • Nine useful comments for every link. Not three. Nine
  • One subreddit per account for the first 90 days. Account age means nothing without topical history
  • Never link in a top-level comment on a post that is not mine
  • Read the modmail rules and then read the last 50 removed posts in the sub, which tells you the real rules
  • If a mod messages you, reply like a person and do what they say immediately

What the traffic does
Reddit: 41,800 sessions/mo, 4.1% email signup, 2.2% purchase
Search: 96,000 sessions/mo, 1.1% email signup, 0.8% purchase

So a third of the traffic and nearly three times the conversion rate. People arriving from a comment have already decided you are credible.

What it costs
About 90 minutes a day of real commenting that cannot be delegated, because a VA writing comments gets spotted in a week. This is the whole catch.

What got me temporarily banned twice
Both times: linking too soon in a new sub because the post was perfectly on topic and I got greedy.

Reddit traffic. Mostly by being useful, occasionally by not being.

The 9:1 ratio is roughly where I landed too, by trial and error and about four dead accounts. Good to see it written down as a number.

Link builder. If it ranks, it is whitehat enough for the client.

The conversion gap is the headline. Three times the purchase rate means your 41k sessions are worth more than the 96k from search, which inverts how most people would allocate effort.

Building boring sites that print money. Case studies in my journey thread.

Correct, and I did not restructure around it for about a year because search felt like the serious channel.

I sell aged Reddit accounts and I will say the unprofitable thing: age without comment history in the target sub is close to worthless. Buyers want 10-year accounts and the mods look at the last 30 days.

Premium Seller — aged accounts, all platforms. Escrow always welcome.

Have you tried any automation on the comment side at all, or is 90 minutes a day genuinely all manual?

All manual. I tried LLM-drafted comments for three weeks; two accounts got called out by actual users, which is worse than being caught by a filter.

This is the thing I keep running into. The channels that convert best are the ones that resist delegation, which caps them at whatever one person can do.

IG + TikTok growth. Organic only, no shortcuts worth burning an account for.

90 minutes a day of commenting is genuinely achievable for me, unlike most methods here. Starting with one sub tonight.

Day 9 of learning. Journey thread incoming once I have something to show.

One sub, 90 days, no links. If you can do that you are ahead of nearly everyone who tries this.
